Starting this project i was very excited because i felt the first mission went well and was very excited to do another one. just like with the first mission i read through all of the different topic options to find the one that drew me in the most. After reading them all i decided that i wanted to do The Internet Of Things. From choosing the topic i was then able to join a group.

I wasn't really sure what the internet of things was at first but when i read some of the information given on the cdm website i found it so interesting that i was ready to get going straight away. I met with my group to organize what direction we wanted to take the presentation. Similarly to the first mission we split the presentation into different research topics and gave a few to each of the people in the group so that we could continue working on the project separately, this was very important because we all live so far away from each other. One of the other group members suggested using google slides so we could all access and edit it without needing to be together.

we decided on our goals for this mission, we hoped to compile a list of Internet Of Things devices, how they are used and how they affect our daily life, the risks and safety issues with these devices and also to conduct a small experiment of our own in order to find out how many Internet Of Things devices the people we know own and use a pie chart to represent the data.

We started our research by looking at the links provided on the cdm website and the suggested tasks given. We decided however that we would prefer to do research of our own as to not repeat too much of the same information as other groups who would be doing the same topic and using the same links provided.

I was given the task of collecting the data of our survey on how many IoT devices people have in their homes. we decided not to use any survey apps or websites as we felt this would be easier and quicker to actually get responses. I did this by asking a random selection of people how many IoT devices they have in their home and to specify what exactly those devices are. This information would then later be brought to the group and made into a pie chart. When the data was collected we did actually make multiple visual representations of it (for example: bar chart, histogram, graph etc.) but in the end the group felt that the pie chart was the best representation of our results and was the most aesthetically pleasing to us.

We met up again in the library just before the presentation to get one last practice in and to make sure we were all familiar and comfortable with our pieces. I felt a bit more confident going into this presentation than i did in the first but i was still very nervous.

Thanks for reading :)
